Pick a side

A recent letter writer said they don’t know enough about the war in Israel to take a side. Well, I’m not up on what all went on in 1917 or 1947 and can’t remember the title of the book on my bedside table, but I sure as heck know and remember what happened at the music festival in Israel two weeks ago. I don’t know about the letter writer, but, for me, picking a side in 2023 is a no-brainer. Israel is on one side and Hamas terrorists are on the other side. I’m going with Israel.

Jill Young

People only need to read about what happened at the music festival to pick a side.

Showing gratitude

There is probably one little boy that lives in Gaza that’s an orphan who saw lots of people die. This is sad and not normal for me. I live in Canada and am a boy of 10 years. I don’t see air strikes, my life is not in danger, my relatives or family members did not die in war, I have not been kicked out of my house and tortured. Hence, as a Canadian Ahmadi Muslim, I should be grateful for my country, house, food and toys.

Rameez Ahmad Muneer Khan

We are incredibly lucky to live in Canada and we must not take that for granted.

No distractions

Having all the Sun newspaper chain columnists denounce Hamas and chide Palestinian supporters at the same time as somehow being supporters of Hamas is more than a little strange coming just a day or two before Israeli unleashes an even greater military assault on Gaza. We cannot do anything now about the dead, but we can still try to save the living. The Sun’s columnists seem to be deliberately trying to divert people’s attention from what is really important, which is trying to find a way to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East. Everybody should be focused now on saving the innocent, not a small number of people expressing hateful points of view.

We are reporting on the realities of what is happening here in response to the war. Would you rather us not do that?
