Guess what? The City of Winnipeg could save millions and millions of taxpayers’ dollars by not repairing Winnipeg’s roads and potholes if the City passed a compulsory (George Orwell 1984) bylaw forcing all residents and businesses to drive vehicles with tracks (no wheels) just like military tanks. Tracked vehicles drive over holes and not into them. Until all the potholes are properly and permanently filled and levelled, Winnipeg has to change its name to “Pot Hole City.” I am almost afraid to take my car out of the garage.

Protest for the hostages

Where are the protests for the hostages held since last October? Where are the protests for the hundreds of people — men, women, and children — who were murdered by Hamas when they started this war? It was not started by Israel. Why has this been forgotten by the people who are protesting? Why is no one protesting for the hostages?

Joan Stuart

These protesters ignore what happened on October 7.

Gilbeault’s failing gambit

No Canadian should be surprised if a radical environmentalist is made Environment Minister then radical policies will result. Having placed a cap on carbon emissions that is harming every Canadian costs and the economy, Steven Guilbeault now wants a cap on plastics. That would seriously raise already big costs of many food products. Guilbeault ignored the fact that while sacrificing Canada’s economy with his war on fossil fuels the biggest carbon emitters China and India are not participating. Now he is ignoring the biggest ocean polluters are located in Asia and have zero plan to participate in his radical plastic production cap. The sooner Guilbeault is gone from government the better.

The sooner the Trudeau government is gone, the better.

We protest — over and over

With the announcement of three days a week of work in person with the federal government, expect more protests. What kind of society have we become? Nothing seems to be right. As I said before and I say it again, we have found everything under the sun, including the sun, to protest. Welcome to today’s world.

It’s becoming a hobby for some people.
