Donald Trump said that he could end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours. Trump lies about lies. He will say anything, anything, to gain support. If, by chance, Trump is re-elected as U.S. president in 2024, kiss world peace, stability, democracy and freedoms goodbye.

Robert J. Moskal

Undoubtedly his boast of achieving peace in Ukraine is unattainable.

Clarity and insight

This is not an opinion based on any particular news piece in your paper, but an opinion of one of your most prolific columnists and another one, not as frequent of a contributor but excellent nonetheless. Brian Lilley and Victor Davis Hanson communicate with clarity, insight and tremendous understanding of how the political world spins — both on and off — the driving wagon. I am not sure how Brian Lilley has time for anything else with all the content he produces. Victor Davis Hanson displays a calmness and fact-based understanding as he unfolds that which has been secreted away. So I ask forgiveness from both when the Sun takes a deserved day off and I get grouchy. My father was always in a sulk without his daily paper and now I understand that lament completely. My opinion? Job(s) so well done!

Monique Simandl

They have a keen perspective. Lilley doesn’t miss a beat. And for the record, he does occasionally take some time off.

Taking it easy

Canadians drinking less? If so, the only reason I can muster up is the price — AKA the taxes that we have been saddled with. Never have bought reserve smokes, dope or gas, never felt it was right not to pay my fair tax structure, unfair competition to the others, not to mention illegal. But all of that has changed. If there is no political — and yes, it is absolutely political — will to make changes where changes are due, then bring it on. From now on, reserve gas, hopefully a stocked booze shop, and anything else that I can buy tax reduced. These latest increases have broken the back of this beast of burden.

Bill Vernon

Just wait to see what the effect is when the taxes go up over 6% on April 1. How ironic liquor stores were deemed essential during the pandemic.
