A 53-year-old woman from Winnipeg was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 16, near Provincial Road 350, approximately 12 kilometers east of Gladstone on Thursday morning.
RCMP said investigators have determined that an SUV with two occupants, being driven by the woman, was travelling westbound when it veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a semi, being driven by a 63-year-old man from Plumas.
The woman was pronounced dead on scene and her 18-year-old male passenger was taken to hospital with minor physical injuries. The semi driver was not physically injured.
A section of Highway 16, from Highway 34 to Highway 50, was closed until just before 5 p.m. due to the collision.
Neepawa RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
