Article content
A 52-year-old Winnipeg man is reported to have drowned after going into West Hawk Lake on Saturday.
Responding to a possible drowning, Falcon Lake RCMP officers were told that two males, ages of 52 and 51 from Winnipeg, had jumped off a pontoon into the lake and immediately began having difficulty in the water. Life jackets were thrown to both males but the 52-year-old male was not able to reach it in time and was seen going under and did not resurface, RCMP said.
Falcon Lake RCMP, with assistance from Manitoba Conservation and the local Fire Department, searched the water in the area but were unable to locate the victim. The Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART) attended and conducted an underwater search.
At approximately 4:20 a.m. Sunday morning, the body of the 52-year-old had been recovered from the water.
Falcon Lake RCMP continue to investigate.
