“Every time a threat is made at a school we respond immediately and investigate thoroughly as these cases are not taken lightly,” Cpl. Julie Courchaine said in a news release.

In both instances, charges of uttering threats were laid, the youths were released from custody and have upcoming court dates.

The Western Manitoba schools were in the RMs of Alonsa and Portage La Prairie.

In the first, it was reported that a youth threatened to bring a gun to school. He was detained. No firearm was located but RCMP determined he had assaulted two youths earlier in the day and also uttered threats.

He was charged with assault with a weapon, assault, and three counts of uttering threats.

In the second instance, it is believed the youth made threats towards students at his school. He was arrested at his residence and was charged with uttering threats.
