Police arrest suspect in March shooting death of Lori Gordon

A man wanted for a fatal West End shooting in March was arrested Tuesday in Hanover, Man.

The 18-year-old remains in custody and is charged with second-degree murder in the March 7 shooting death of 49-year-old Lori Gordon. He is also charged with five counts each of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Police initially responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Spence Street on March 7 at 2 a.m., where four men were shot and seriously injured. The shooting of Gordon and another woman happened four hours later in the 400 block of Beverley Street.

Police charged a 17-year-old in connection with the shootings in April and issued a warrant for the 18-year-old, who managed to evade police until Tuesday.

Woman’s body found in West End

The homicide unit has assumed the investigation after a woman was found dead early Thursday morning in the West End.

Police said they responded to a suspicious incident in the 600 block of Victor Street at about 3:45 a.m., finding an adult female with serious injuries who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Notification to the victim’s family is ongoing, police said, with no other information provided.

Indecent act arrest

A 21-year-old man has been charged with committing an indecent act Tuesday on the grounds of an elementary school in Glenlawn.

Police said staff at Ecole Varennes Elementary School located a man outside a school exit door committing an indecent act at 9:00 a.m. Police were notified but he fled before they arrived.

There were no assaults or injuries to students or staff, police said.
