One teen arrested, another wanted in March 7 shooting death

A 17-year-old male is facing charges in the March 7 murder of a 49-year-old woman and police are seeking a second suspect connected to the West End shooting spree.

Lori Gordon was found dead by police in the 400 block of Beverley Street on March 7. A 35-year-old woman was also shot.

Police have identified Martin Faruq Luther, 18, of Winnipeg as a suspect, with a warrant for second-degree murder issued for his arrest. Luther is described as black, standing 5-foot-11 with a thin build. He is considered armed and dangerous and not to be approached.

Police believe Gordon’s murder and the shooting of four people in the 600 block of Spence Street on March 7 at about 2:15 a.m., to be related. Three men were found within a residential suite and a fourth nearby. They were in the 20s and 30s.

On April 13, a 17-year-old male from Winnipeg was arrested in connection with the shootings and faces one charge of second-degree murder along with five counts of attempt to commit murder and five counts of aggravated assault, and weapons charges. He is in custody.
