Winnipeg Police General Patrol units, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, were called to the 600 block of Main Street for a report of an assault at shortly before 11 p.m., where officers located a 57-year-old man suffering from significant stabbing-related injuries. They began to provide emergency medical care and the victim was later rushed to a hospital in unstable condition. He was ultimately upgraded to stable condition.

Three suspects were taken into custody in the 500 block of Main Street. A knife was seized, and some of the victim’s property was recovered.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.

It is believed that a group had confronted the victim who was previously unknown to them without provocation when he was seriously assaulted and robbed of his belongings.

Three 20-year-old males have been charged with aggravated assault and robbery. One of them was also charged with failing to comply with conditions of a release order.

The three were detained but were not being named at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.
