Man arrested after being caught making Molotov cocktails

A Winnipeg man was arrested and charged after police said he was caught making Molotov cocktails last week.

Winnipeg Police were called to a suite in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue on Friday evening at shortly after 5 p.m., following the report of numerous” Molotov cocktails being stored there.

When General Patrol officers arrived, police said they immediately detected a strong smell of kerosene from the suite causing an immediate public safety concern.

Officers located four Molotov cocktails and a quantity of kerosene. A male resident was then taken into custody. Members of the Bomb Unit attended and safely removed the explosives.

A 34-year-old man faces four counts of unlawful possession of explosives and for failing to comply with conditions of his release order. He was detained in custody.
