Drinking vodka coolers has helped raise $6,700 for the Assiniboine Park Zoo’s polar bear rescue team.
A cheque for that amount was presented to zoo officials on Friday, after Corby Spirit and Wine pledged to donate $2 from every 750-millilitre bottle of Polar Ice Vodka sold in Manitoba Liquor Mart locations throughout the month of August.
“We are continually looking for ways to give back, so when a great opportunity provided itself with Polar Ice Vodka and the polar bear rescue team, we jumped on it,” said company sales director Mike McPhail, in a press release.
The cash will help offset costs associate with the rescue team’s trips to northern communities and animal care, zoo officials said.
