Not much change in Winnipeg real estate market

Article content

It’s a bit of a same old, same old feel when it comes to June’s real estate stats for Winnipeg. And that’s a good thing, says the head of WinnipegRealtors.

There were 1,515 real estate sales for the month, according to figures released by the group on Thursday. That’s six above last year’s number. And for the year, sales are running less than 1% ahead of last year, at 6,502. Average house prices are similar to last year’s numbers, while condo prices are up a little over 1%.

And $416 million in sales were recorded for the month, again less than 1% better than last year.

“In all honesty, our Winnipeg market can be quite boring due to how remarkably close the month-end numbers are in comparison to the same month the year before,” said WinnipegRealtors president David MacKenzie, in a press release. “I will take that result any day over the uneven swings which occur in some other major Canadian markets.”

The most expensive home sold in June was for $1.165 million, while the least expensive was only $32,000. The most expensive condo, meanwhile, was $655,000, with the lowest being only $57,000.

Homes were on the market for an average of 29 days, while condos were at 49 days.
