A billion dollars in new assets is pretty cool, says Steinbach Credit Union.

At its annual general meeting Tuesday, the board of directors announced SCU’s total assets have grown from $2.5 billion to $3.5 billion since 2010.

“This significant increase over last year’s level maintains SCU’s hold on being Manitoba’s largest credit union, and the seventh largest in Canada,” said board president Ted Falk.

SCU now has more than 80,000 consumer, business and agriculture members, said CEO Glenn Friesen.

“SCU has continued on our path to success by remaining focused on our growth philosophy of one member, one product and one service at a time,” he said.

Planning continues on a new branch and corporate office in Steinbach.
