Two men who rescuers were searching for on Lake Winnipeg have been found alive.

RCMP launched a search after being told a truck had fallen through the ice about 10 a.m. Wednesday.

A 911 caller told Mounties the truck was about two miles from the shore of Beaconia Beach, near Grand Beach, northeast of Winnipeg.

RCMP later said two men — a 51-year-old from Winnipeg and a 54-year-old from Grand Point, Man. — were on their way to go fishing when the truck broke through the ice.

The 51-year-old walked to an area home and directed searchers to the location of the other man. The 54-year-old was found on Lake Winnipeg by a Search and Rescue Manitoba team, police said.

Both men were being transported to hospitals for medical attention, RCMP said.

Selkirk Mounties, RCMP Search and Rescue, the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner, Manitoba Conservation and the East Beaches Fire Department were also involved in the search.
